About Our Team
As a family-owned home care company, The CareSide sprouted from entrepreneurial roots in 2017 with a simple goal: deliver the best home care in Australia at the most affordable prices. Today, we’re a national provider with an ever-growing care footprint, supported by a team of diverse, mission-driven professionals who are sincerely passionate about providing the highest quality care possible.
Jessie Kaur is one of those professionals. Her passion for helping others began at the age of 18 when she was working as a carer and studying nursing. Upon completing her nursing studies, Jessie expanded her scope by spending time in aged care, NDIS, regional and remote hospitals, and mental health nursing. She eventually joined The CareSide and quickly climbed the ranks to Regional Manager, a role that empowers her to lead her own team and make a daily positive impact on the lives of care recipients and their families. Read on to learn more about Jessie and her work at The CareSide.
Share a bit about yourself. What’s your story, and what brought you to the home care industry?
Jessie: I began my career in aged care over a decade ago, working as a carer while studying nursing in Victoria. That early experience sparked a passion for helping others and laid the foundation for my long-term commitment to the industry.
After completing my nursing studies, I gained broad experience across aged care, NDIS, and regional and remote hospitals before transitioning into mental health nursing. Eventually, I moved into a leadership role as a Clinical Documentation Advisor for a major aged care provider, supporting 35 facilities across Melbourne.
After relocating to Sydney, I joined The CareSide as a Care Manager. A year and a half later, I progressed to the role of Regional Care Manager. This journey has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally while continuing to focus on delivering high-quality care.
Why did you join The CareSide?
Jessie: Having worked with large organisations in the past, I was drawn to The CareSide because it’s a family-owned company with strong values. Their vision aligned with my own: providing personalised, high-quality care while maintaining a supportive culture. That really stood out to me.
What’s your favourite part about being a Regional Manager? What’s the most challenging part?
Jessie: I truly enjoy the variety that comes with this role. I work across many areas—prospective client management, service delivery, and resolving any concerns or complaints. I love engaging with clients and making a positive difference in their lives. I also lead a fantastic team of Care Managers and take great pride in mentoring and upskilling them.
While the role is multi-faceted and dynamic, I see that as a positive challenge. My team knows I’m always available to support them, and I enjoy being that dependable go-to person.
What’s your favourite part about working at The CareSide?
Jessie: The culture here is exceptional. I report directly to our COO, Emily, who is incredibly approachable and supportive. Whether I need guidance or want to suggest a new idea, I receive immediate support. That’s rare in this industry.
In previous roles at larger organisations, suggestions often took years to be acknowledged. At The CareSide, ideas that benefit clients or improve team operations are acted on quickly. I also genuinely enjoy coming to the office because of the positive environment and my supportive team.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
Jessie: My day usually starts by reviewing emails and messages, setting priorities, and checking in with my team. Since I manage teams in both NSW (where I’m based) and QLD, I connect with my colleagues in QLD remotely via video call to ensure they have everything they need.
Throughout the day, I speak with clients, resolve any issues, and support my team in providing excellent care. It’s a fast-paced role, but I enjoy the variety and the opportunity to make a difference every day.
In a perfect world, what does the future of home care look like?
Jessie: Home care is incredibly valuable—it allows older Australians to remain in their own homes, surrounded by their loved ones, which is so important for their wellbeing.
The Support at Home reforms are a great step forward. They aim to simplify and enhance services, making care more accessible and tailored. Ideally, the future of home care will offer even faster access to support, with reduced wait times for assessments and funding so that more seniors can get the help they need, when they need it.
Do you have any inspiring or touching stories you can share from your time as a Regional Manager?
Jessie: There are many moments that stay with me, but one that stands out is when we helped an elderly client with limited mobility remain in their home after their situation changed suddenly. Working closely with their Care Manager, we quickly arranged equipment, coordinated new support workers, and secured an upgrade in their care package—all within a few days. The client’s family was so relieved, and seeing the difference we made reminded me why I do what I do.
What improvements or changes would you like to see in the home care industry?
Jessie: One key area for improvement is the time it takes for clients to be assessed and receive funding. Many people wait months for home carer funding—or even over a year in some cases—which delays access to essential support. If assessment and funding processes could be streamlined, we’d be able to assist more people, more quickly, helping them remain safely in their homes for longer.
If you weren’t a Regional Manager at The CareSide, what would you be up to?
Jessie: I think I’d still be working in the aged care or home care industry. I’m passionate about this work, and I can’t imagine stepping away from it.
What’s one thing you’d like everyone to know about Care Managers at The CareSide?
Jessie: Our Care Managers are all AHPRA-registered professionals, which gives them clinical insight and the ability to assess client needs accurately and holistically. They closely monitor clients and stay in regular contact—typically every fortnight, which is more frequent than many other providers. I know some providers contact their clients only once a month.
Because of our Care Managers’ clinical backgrounds, they can proactively advocate for clients, whether securing additional funding or arranging the right support services. Their knowledge and compassion truly set them apart.
When you’re not assisting home care recipients and their families, what are some things you enjoy outside of work?
Jessie: I love listening to music, getting lost in a good book, and spending quality time with my husband. I also enjoy reading about leadership and team development—personal growth is important to me. Staying inspired helps me bring new energy to my team and role each day.
